Envirofit: Battling an Invisible Killer Every Day

Air pollution is a serious problem in many cities. Every 10 seconds, a person dies from the effects of air pollution, and pollution is caused by many factors. But Envirofit has developed a way to reduce air pollution in Southeast Asian cities that depend on scooters for their transportation means. The organization retrofits scooter engines with a device that lowers engine emissions by 67 percent. By greatly reducing the amount of unburned fuel that escapes, the new technology lowers hydrocarbon emissions and increases fuel consumption!

But Envirofit doesn’t stop there. Also concerned with Indoor Air Pollution (IAP), which affects mostly women and children, the organization has created a way to reduce pollution in homes by inventing a clean-burning cook stove. This revolutionary cook stove emits significantly fewer toxic emissions and uses less fuel than the traditional cook stoves, resulting in a reduction in harmful pollutants that families breathe every day.
