Growing Dome™ Greenhouse Kits: Helping People Help Themselves

People today are concerned the disappearance of family farms; the vast distances food is being shipped; the low quality of “fresh” produce; and the addition of pesticides and antibiotics.  So what can be done?

A Growing Dome Greenhouse from Growing Spaces can help.

Using technology in combination with wind, sun, water and earth, Growing Domes are efficient while remaining affordable.  They allow you to grow fresh vegetables, flowers, fruit, and herbs year round, with minimal extra heating or cooling.

The dome structure has an enormous amount of growing space.  A 15’ Growing Dome can produce 400-500 pounds of produce per year – enough to feed two or three adults.

Yet, the dome is not just for growing plants. It can enclose hot tubs, meditation centers, massage and physical therapy studios, and as a community greenhouse/center. Schools build them to help educate children on the living earth, nurturing, and science.

The Growing Dome comes as a kit and all the necessary components are pre-cut, pre-drilled, color coded, and ready for assembly. Once assembled, these incredibly strong structures can withstand 130 mph winds, snow storms, and sub-zero temperatures with no supplemental heating.

Much more than a greenhouse; it’s a way of life!

One Garden, One Promise at a Time

On a scale never experienced before, the natural world is becoming ever more degraded, impoverished, and unsustainable.  How can we change course?

Global Children’s Gardens has a simple, yet transforming mission: to cultivate among the children of the world the wonders, wisdom, and nourishment of natural gardening.  Global Children’s Gardens are community-based greenhouses where youth of all ages learn about the relationship between humanity and the earth, and about the opportunities for greater sustainability and global connection.

Using Growing Dome greenhouse kits from a company called Growing Spaces, the gardens are energy efficient, produce optimal results, are easily constructed and maintained, and are extremely durable.

To date, these projects have positively impacted thirteen diverse communities, with several more partnerships slated for the coming year.

Global Children’s Gardens are more than beautiful gardens of sustenance.  They are the seeds for a future promise: a promise of a more peaceful, equitable, and sustainable future.

Envirofit: Battling an Invisible Killer Every Day

Air pollution is a serious problem in many cities. Every 10 seconds, a person dies from the effects of air pollution, and pollution is caused by many factors. But Envirofit has developed a way to reduce air pollution in Southeast Asian cities that depend on scooters for their transportation means. The organization retrofits scooter engines with a device that lowers engine emissions by 67 percent. By greatly reducing the amount of unburned fuel that escapes, the new technology lowers hydrocarbon emissions and increases fuel consumption!

But Envirofit doesn’t stop there. Also concerned with Indoor Air Pollution (IAP), which affects mostly women and children, the organization has created a way to reduce pollution in homes by inventing a clean-burning cook stove. This revolutionary cook stove emits significantly fewer toxic emissions and uses less fuel than the traditional cook stoves, resulting in a reduction in harmful pollutants that families breathe every day.
